KAR, Ms. Mehrangiz [Human Right Activists]
Mehrangiz Kar is a well-known human rights activist, attorney, writer, and former editor of the now banned Zan literary review. She has published widely on women's issues in Iran including The Legal Structure of the Family System in Iran, Children of Addiction: Social and Legal Position of the Children and Addicted Parents in Iran, and coauthored with Shahla Lahiji two volumes, Quest for Identity: Iranian Women in Historical Perspective.

Additionally, Ms. Kar is the winner of numerous awards including International Woman of the Year (2000) and the Ludovic Traieux International Human Rights Prize (2002). She currently resides in the US and is a Visiting Scholar at American University's Washington College of Law.
